West of Scotland Water's Chairman, Professor Alan Alexander insists that the proposed rise in water charges will give the Authority much needed capital to increase their investment and re-habilitation programme.
Professor Alexander stressed: "While the need for the increase is regretted, West of Scotland Water appreciates the Commissioner's desire to see the Water Industry in Scotland placed on a proper economic footing.
"These new charges give us the chance to make up for 50 years of under-investment which the Authority has been highlighting since its inception.
"This gives us a chance to re-dress the balance and that can only be to the long-term benefit of all our customers - business and domestic."
