South East Water is responding to the Drinking Water Inspectorate’s news release, ‘South East Water pleads guilty to charges of supplying water unfit for human consumption’.

Our aim is always to provide our 1.5 million customers with water of the very highest quality. However very occasionally operational difficulties can occur.

To help ensure the eradication of future discolouration incidents, over 200km of water main has been replaced or renovated in the last year alone, with the Bexhill area in particular undergoing extensive work.

It is important to emphasise that there was no health risk related to the discoloured water supplied.
