Degrémont is to build the most important Drinking Water Production Plant of New Delhi

Degrémont, subsidiary of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux Water Division, was awarded a 2 billion rupees contract (almost 50 million euros) for the design, building and operation (10 years) of a 635 MLD Drinking Water Production Plant at Sonia Vihar in New Delhi (India).

Won through the collaboration of all the Group companies, within the context of an international call for tenders, this 2 billion rupees (almost 50M euros) contract is the first contract of this size in India, after Bombay, for Degrémont. It represents a major step for the growth of the Water Division companies in India.

Designed to supply drinking water to 3 million inhabitants of this capital city, the plant is the most important one of the indian capital. It will produce 635,000 m3 per day from two sources, the Ganges River and the Yamuna River.

Operational in three years, the plant will be equipped with Degrémont proven technologies of pre-settling (Turbocirculator), settling (Pulsator), sand filtration (Aquazur) and sludge treatment.

The Degrémont group, which is building a similar plant in Dhaka (Bangladesh), confirms its development in South Asia.

World leader in water treatment engineering, Degrémont is a subsidiary of Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux Water Division. With a turnover of 810 million euros in 1999, Degremont is present in more than 70 countries with 3,600 employees.
