EDMONTON/TORONTO – EPCOR Technologies (formerly Eltec) will be providing water meter replacement services to the City of Barrie after receiving a contract from the City of Barrie Municipal Works Department. EPCOR’s
Mississauga office will be installing water meters in new locations and
replacing old water meters with a potential of 12,500 units for Barrie’s
water meter conversion program. The contract, which takes effect immediately,
was awarded after EPCOR Technologies completed a 500-unit trial in 1999.

we ran with them last summer," said Fred Haughton, Manager of Road and
Transportation Services (formerly the Superintendent of Water Operations) for
the City of Barrie Municipal Works Department. "We were impressed with
their staff’s attention to detail and their ability to get the job done both
efficiently and effectively. We associate EPCOR with quality service and

The Barrie contract is EPCOR’s first water meter job in Ontario. Their
Edmonton office has service contracts for more than 200,000 water meters at
residential, commercial and industrial sites across Alberta. EPCOR entered the
Ontario marketplace in 1997 when it purchased J.K. Johnstone Meters, a company
who specialized in electric meter services.
